Biography

Alvaro was born on February 27, 1766 in the city of , Asturias , Spain [2] in the family of a very enlightened Martin de Los Santos, who has a rich library of his own, which was also used by Alvaro [3] .

He was educated at the , where he studied law and philosophy in 1780-1781 (university documents of that time were burned during the revolution in 1934) [4] .

Alvaro first married Juan Cuepo de Llano, sister of Conda de Toreno, but died a year later. Then in 1786 he moved to Madrid , where he became a judge. But he soon returned to . In 1796, M. Godoy was appointed General Treasurer of the Kingdom. On April 22, 1797, Alvara married a second time to Maria Amalia Corneyo Jareguando, daughter of the Council of Castile member Andre Bruno Corneyo and maid of honor Queen Maria Louise. They had two sons: Alvaro and Carlos and two daughters: Ramona and Manuel. In 1801, M. Godoy dismissed Alvaro from his post, after which he returned to Asturias, where in 1802-1808 he was a member of the Council of Asturias [3] .

In 1808, A.F. Estrada was appointed Attorney General of Asturias, in 1812 he was the quartermaster of the Andalusian army [3] . During the persecution in 1814-1819 and in 1823-1836 he was in exile in England [1] . In 1820, he was the deputy of the Cortes and was the editor of the opposition newspaper El tribuno del pueblo, published in Cadiz [5] . On February 28, 1823, he was appointed Secretary of State , but on April 16, 1823, resigned [3] .

He was a deputy to Oviedo in the legislature in 1839, 1840 and 1843, from February to March 1840 he served as chairman of the Congress, and on August 22, 1845 he was appointed life senator [6] . Alvaro was appointed Honorary Vice-President of the Institute of France , a member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences [3] .

Alvaro Flores Estrada died on December 16, 1853 in Miraflores, Asturias , Spain [6] .
