Biography
Berber by origin. Born in the Egyptian village of Ibshawai, by the name of which he received his nisbu [5] . He lived in North Africa and Egypt.
Al-Ibshihi studied law and grammar and already at ten years old knew the Qur'an by heart. He often visited Cairo , where he attended al-Bulkini's lessons. After the death of his father, al-Ibshikha became a theologian- preacher and devoted himself to his favorite pastime - literature.
Creativity
Known as the compiler of the prosaic anthology “What is New in Every Variety of Fine” (“al-Mustatraf fi kull kull fann mustazraf”), which includes short stories , jokes , witty sayings, proverbs and sayings gleaned from written sources and Egyptian folklore . The anthology was popular in the Arab countries.
At the beginning of al-Mustatraf, al-Ibshiha indicates that he has collected all the genres in this book “in which only pundits wrote”, including aphorisms, literary works, historical stories, anecdotes, useful information, stories, witty sayings and graceful poetry. Al-Ibshihi also notes that he used the verses of the Qur'an and authentic hadith as samples.
As Al-Sahavi notes , al-Ibshihi wrote another book on literature, “Necklaces of Flowers on the Breasts of the Rivers” (“Atwak al-Azhar ala Sudur al-Anhar”) and began a work on epistolary art entitled “On the Art of Writing and correspondence ” (“ Fi sanat at-tarassul wa-al-kitaba ”).
In addition, he is presumably the author of the manuscript “Reminder for those who are knowledgeable and for perspicacity” (“Tazkirat al-arafin wa tabirat al-mustabsirin”).
He wrote some stories about saints al-Ibshiha, borrowing material from other books, including from the Spring of the Faithful (Rabbi al-Abrar) az-Zamahshari and the Rare Necklace (Alkid al-Farid) Ibn Abd Rabbiha . The manuscript consists of 84 chapters that are devoted to various issues of religion, morality, nature, poetry and human life in all its manifestations.
