Roman Dostal ( Czech Roman Dostál ; July 13, 1970 , Usti nad Orlici ) - Czech biathlete , world champion . Roman is the first world champion in the history of male Czech biathlon . He started biathlon from the age of 14. Despite the uneven performances and low results, Dostal still manages to get into the main national team of the Czech Republic . His first major achievement was the silver medal of the 1995 World Cup , won in the team race . Uncertain shooting with good ski training did not allow Roman Dostal to occupy places higher than the fourth to fifth in the overall standings of the World Cup . Nevertheless, in the 2004/2005 season he sensationally wins the individual race of the World Cup in Hochfilzen and writes his name in the history of world biathlon. Following the results of the next season, Roman Dostal was among the thirty best biathletes in the world. But at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, in individual competitions, he could not rise above the twenty-third place. He completed his career in the season 2009/2010 .
