Club career

In adult football, he made his debut in 1949 with performances for the Bondenese team with Serie S.

In the summer of 1950, he became a player in the SPAL club and in the first season he scored 16 goals in 33 matches and helped the team win Serie B and enter the Italian football elite. There Fontanesi spent another 72 matches for the club and scored 15 goals.

In 1953, Fontanesi moved to the capital “Lazio” , but failed to gain a foothold in the team, having played only 44 matches in the championship in two seasons.

In the summer of 1955, Alberto became a Udinese player, this year the club was sent to Serie B for football fraud. In the first season, Fontanesi helped his team return to the elite division. In total, he played for the team from Udine for five seasons of his playing career. Most of the time spent in the “Udinese” was the main player of the attacking team [2] .

During 1960-1962 he defended the colors of Verona in Series B.

He completed his professional playing career at the Sambenedetteze club from Serie B, for which he played for 1962/63.

He died on April 1, 2016 at the 88th year of his life in the city of Trezigallo .

Team appearances

He made his debut in official matches as part of the Italian national team at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki , where he played in both matches of his team in the tournament [3] . In the first match against the US team, Fontanesi scored one of the Italians' goals and helped defeat the opponent with a score of 8: 0, however, in the second game, the Italians were beaten by 0: 3 Hungarians and left the tournament.

October 26, 1952 spent his third and last match in the national team of Italy, it was a friendly game against the national team of Sweden , which ended in a draw 1: 1.

Personal life

Had a younger brother Carlo , who was also a footballer and played for the SPAL club in Serie A.
