Chiryurt HPP-2

Chiryurtskaya HPP-2 ( Chir-Yurtskaya HPP-2 ) is a hydroelectric power station near the village of Zubutli-Miatli in Dagestan, on the Sulak River (the discharge channel of the Chiryurtskaya HPP-1 ). It has its own name - "Pioneer of Dagestan." It is part of the Sulaksky cascade of hydroelectric power plants , forming together with the Gelbakh hydroelectric power station and the Chiryurt hydroelectric power station-1 a single hydropower complex of the Chiryurt hydroelectric power stations, which is the lower stage of the cascade. A feature of a hydroelectric power station is the absence of a dam. Chiryurt HPP-1 is part of the Dagestan branch of PJSC RusHydro .

Station Design

Chiryurtskaya HPP-2 is a low-pressure derivative hydroelectric power station with pressureless derivation. The function of the supply derivation of the station is performed by the discharge channel of the Chiryurt HPP-1. The installed capacity of the power plant is 9 MW , the provided capacity is 7 MW , and the average annual electricity generation is 42.8 million kWh . According to the classification adopted in Russia, it refers to small hydropower plants.

The composition of hydroelectric power plants:

  • an open type hydroelectric building 30 m long and a construction height of 25 m;
  • two lateral bottom spillways combined with a hydroelectric power station building with a total capacity of 200 m³ / s;
  • a discharge channel with a length of 1765 m, a width of 30 m and a depth of 5 m, ending with water intake structures of the Yuzbash-Aksai irrigation system.

One vertical hydraulic unit with a rotary-blade turbine PL 103-VB-500 operating at a design head of 7 m is installed in the hydroelectric power station building. The turbine drives the hydro-generator VGS 700 / 75-72. The turbine was produced by the Kharkov Turbine Plant , the generator was manufactured by the Uralelectroapparat plant. Electricity from a generator with a voltage of 6.3 kV is supplied to a three-phase power transformer TDG-10000/110 / 6.3 with a capacity of 10 MVA.

History of construction and operation

The hydroelectric station was designed by the Baku branch of the Hydroproject Institute . The construction of the hydroelectric power station began in 1959, and was commissioned in 1964 . At the end of 2008, an expanded overhaul was carried out at the hydroelectric station, in particular, the stator of the hydrogenerator and its excitation system were replaced, the shape of the suction pipe was changed and deepened, the discharge channel was cleaned and repaired [1] , which led to an increase in the operating capacity of the hydroelectric station by 2 MW [2] .
