Biography
In 1850, Clark entered the service of the electro-telegraph company, where he remained until 1870 . His experiments on underground telegraph wires in 1853 were published in the government report on cables. In 1860 he participated in a committee to study the issue of underwater telegraphs, which after some time published a very valuable report on this issue. The following year, Clark before the British Society read the report “On the Principles of Electric Measurements”, in which he proposed to accept the notation of electrical units, ohm, farad, and volt, which later became common use. In 1871, Clark, along with Robert Sabine, published: "Electrical Tables for Submarine Cables", in 1873 - the report "A Single Cell Battery as a Standard of Electro Motive Force", read to the Royal Society.
