Early years
Freya is a tabby cat that belongs to the former Chancellor of the Treasury, George Osborne and his family (wife and two children) [1] . In 2009, a few months after birth, Freya disappeared from the Osborne family mansion in Notting Hill [1] . The Osborne family after this began an active search for a cat throughout West London, posters were hung up asking for help in the search, which did not bring any results and led the Osborne family to despair [1] . But in early June 2012, George's wife, Francis, received a call from a man who said that Freya was alive, living in a garden near the Osborne home, and her neighbors looked after her [1] . In September 2012, Freya was appointed to the position of the main mousetrap of the residence of the British government and moved to 10 Downing Street [1] .

| Fight Freya and Larry | |
On September 16, 2012, Nigel Nelson, in an article in a reported that Prime Minister David Cameron had fired Larry the main mouse trap and appointed Freya in his place. [2] Nelson noted that Cameron was dissatisfied with the activities of Larry [2] , since the last six months had caught a single mouse and since then has not distinguished himself anymore [3] . According to Nelson, “The last straw for Cameron was the situation when he found Larry in his office sleeping in an armchair while mice scurried around the room. When Cameron tried to wake Larry, so that he took up his duties, the cat opened one eye, but did not budge ” [2] .
After Freya was appointed to the position of the main mousetrap, Cameron charged her with the task of catching mice in buildings on Downing Street 10, 11 and 12, as he considered her a “tougher” and “more circumspect predator” [2] . But Larry reacted to Freya’s appointment very painfully, there was a conflict between the cats due to the division of spheres of influence [4] . In the end, it was decided to leave Larry in his post and to continue their joint work with Freya - “so as not to hurt his feelings” [5] . In the future, "colleagues" switched to peaceful coexistence. Despite the formal “resignation,” Larry continued to live on 10 Downing Street [6] .
Freya became one of the 100 thousand cats used by the British government to capture mice [7] . In May 2014, Freya, while walking, walked more than a mile from 10 Downing Street, after which she was caught by an employee of a charity and returned to her duty station [8] . In August 2014, Freya was hit by a car on Whitehall , after which the veterinarian gave her medical assistance. George Osborne said in this regard that he is “very grateful” to those who took care of his cat [9] . In November 2014, Freyja was relieved of her job as the main mousetrap and sent to the Kent countryside to recover [10] , and Larry again took the position of the main mousetrap of the government residence [11] .
