History
Moskovskaya street (now Lenin street), leads its history almost from the foundation of Simbirsk [1] . It all started with the Ascension Tower of the Simbirsk Kremlin. Near the tower along the road, houses soon appeared, and then a whole order grew out of them. Soon the name of the street appeared - Bolshaya Sviyazhskaya. In 1697, Bolshaya Sviyazhskaya received citizenship rights and was mentioned as one of the most important city streets. Only Panskaya, Cheboksary, Kazan were older than her. Over time, the street leading from the Kremlin west to the capital was renamed Moscow. At the end of the 19th century, there were 833 households on it.
In the building at the intersection of Bolshoi Saratovskaya in Moscow in 1812, I.A. Goncharov. I remembered the street and the stay of the highest persons. So, in 1824, Emperor Alexander I entered Simbirsk and, accompanied by his retinue and the city administration, headed along Moskovskaya Street to the very center - to Cathedral Square .
Moscow periodically was subjected to fires. In 1864, the upper part of the street, which was from Gully Lane, burned out .
A new milestone in the history of Old Moscow was associated with the Ulyanov family moving here.
By 1912, the street was one of the four best and was highway. In the evenings, lamplighters regularly lit lights on it. Along Moscow there were posts with wires, a telegraph line operated.
Moskovskaya street rose from Sviyaga. To the left of it was a ravine of the Simbirka River, and on its other bank, Bolshaya Konnaya Street, which led to Fair Square. Around the Fairground was located most of the inns, hotels, and drinking establishments of Simbirsk.
In 1954, the first line of the Ulyanovsk tram was launched along the street.
In 1981, on Lenin Street, the State Historical and Memorial Museum-Reserve "V.I. Lenin" was formed , which includes a number of old houses that house various museums.
