Durandus ; born c. 1272; Saint-Pursin-sur-Soul , Auvergne, France - d. 10 September 1334) - French bishop, scholar scholastic ; Dominican , nicknamed contemporaries Doctor resolutissimus for his ability to resolve the most difficult issues. First, a fan of Thomas Aquinas , then opposed his teachings; his argument characterizes the historical transition of the scholasticism from realism to nominalism , then developed by Ockham .

The voluntaristic metaphysics he preached led to a conflict within the Dominican order. The basis of his teachings is the intellect , determined by the will , and the threefold being: 1 / being of substances (independently existing entities ; primary principles of all things), 2 / being of accidents (random and non-essential properties of a thing existing in another and through another) and 3 / being relationship (relationship).
