Biography

Thomas Peters was born in 1992 in the small Belgian city of Gel. In 2011, he won the Jack Nicklaus tournament, thanks to which he was able to start training at the University of Illinois, defending the colors of which he won several victories at American student competitions.

Since 2013, Peters has become a professional. At first, the Belgian golfer mainly played in the tournaments of the European School qualification school, and since 2014 began full-fledged performances as part of the main Tour. Peters won his first major victory on August 30, 2015, winning a tournament in Czech Prague. Two weeks later, Thomas won his second European Tournament, becoming the first at the Netherlands Open ( KLM Open ). Since 2016, a Belgian golfer began performing at major tournaments. At his first UK Open, Peters became 30th with a score of 2 above pairs.

In August 2016, Thomas Peters took part in the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics , which returned 112 years later to golf. After the first two rounds, Peters was in second place, behind the leader of the Australian Marcus Fraser only 1 hit. The third round was a failure for Thomas. According to the results of 18 holes, the Belgian showed a result of +6 and immediately rolled outside the top ten. In the fourth round, Peters again showed an excellent result, having passed the field with a score of 6 below the pairs, but this was not enough and in the end Peters remained in the final fourth position. A week after the end of the Games, Peters won a third victory in the European Tour, winning the Made in Denmark tournament.

In April 2017, Thomas Peters took part in the Masters . After the first two rounds, the young Belgian with three other golfers shared the first place, however, the unsuccessful result in the third round, which Peters finished with the result 75 (3 above pairs), threw him to 9th place. Peters finished the final round again with -4, but this was not enough to get into the top three. According to the results of 4 attempts, the result of Peters was -5, which made it possible to share the final 4th place with the American Mattot Kuchar . For the 4th place, the Belgian received 27 rating points, which allowed him to rise from 35th immediately to 26th position in the world classification.
