Dunn, Lin

Lin Dunn ( born May 10, 1947) is an American basketball coach who currently works as an assistant coach for the Kentucky Wildcats University of Kentucky 's women's basketball team. Previously, in addition to working as a coach for student teams, she also worked for the Women's National Basketball Association .

Biography

Dunn was educated at the University of Tennessee in Martin . After graduation, she began to work as a coach of female student basketball teams. From 1970 to 1976, she worked at Austin Pi State University , from 1977 to 1978 at the University of Mississippi , from 1978 to 1987 at the University of Miami , and from 1987 to 1996 at Purdue University . During this time, she led her teams seven times to the NCAA tournament, and in 1994 reached the Final Four. For her achievements, she was included in the sports halls of fame of the University of Miami and Austin Pi. From 1984 to 1985, she was also president of the Association of Women's Basketball Coaches.

In 1996, she took over as the head coach of the Portland Power Club of the American Basketball League, and in 1998 won the title of ABL coach of the year. In 2000, she became the first trainer and general manager of the Seattle Storm WNBA club. In Seattle, Dunn became the darling of the public and many even came in her masks to the Storm matches and quoted her statements. Lyn left Seattle in 2002, shortly before the team was strengthened by the stars Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird , and shortly after she left, she won the WNBA champion.

In 2004, she joined the Indiana Feaver coaching staff, initially as an assistant coach, and since 2008, as a head coach [1] . In 2012, she led the Fiver to the league title.

On May 6, 2014, Dunn completed her coaching career. On June 14 of the same year, she was included in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame [2] .

On May 24, 2016, it was announced that Dunn would become an assistant coach for the Kentucky Wildcats University of Kentucky 's women's basketball team [3] , and in 2017 her contract was extended for another year [4] .
