About the album
The album was preceded by a new concert tour Pure & Simple Tour , which began on June 3, 2016, which was first announced on March 6, 2016 on the official website of Dolly Parton [11] . On July 7, 2016, Parton introduced the track listing, cover, and video clip for the first single, “Pure and Simple,” in the Huffington Post article [12] .
In the US, Pure & Simple debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart with 20,200 copies in its first week. Pure & Simple became for Dolly Parton the best debut of the last year in the Billboard's Top Country Albums country chart , immediately getting to the No. 1 position (solo for the 6th time in her career; earlier charttopers were in 1977, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1991; and there was also the collaborative Trio at No. 1 in 1987), surpassing the performance of the previous Blue Smoke , which debuted at No. 2 in 2014. It also became the first Parton charttopper in Top Country Albums for the first time since 1991, when Eagle was in the lead. When She Flies , i.e. for the first time in 25 years. The album also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard's US Folk Albums folk chart. In the UK, Pure & Simple debuted at No. 2 in the UK Albums chart and at No. 1 in the UK Country Albums with sales of 17,000 copies. In Australia, the album debuted at No. 9 on the Australian Albums chart. In Canada, the album debuted at No. 20, the highest achievement for a singer in Canada in the SoundScan era, that is, since 1991.
