The exact date of birth is unknown. She was probably born between 720 and 730 years , presumably in Asturias. The date of death is also unknown. After death, her body was first buried in the church of Santa Maria in Cangas de Onis . Her husband, King Alfonso I the Catholic, was buried there.
In a marriage with Alfonso I, Ermezinda had three children:
- Fruela I the Cruel (722-768), after the death of his father, inherited the Asturian throne. He was buried with his wife, Queen Munia Alavskaya, in the church of San Salvador in Oviedo that he built.
- Vimarano (killed in 765) - fell at the hands of his brother Fruela I
- Adozinda - married the king of Asturias Silo ; buried in the church of , in .
