History and Speech

Korea Football Club was founded in 1961 by the local Korean community of Japan under the name Zainichi Chosen Football Club . At that time, it was supported by the Cheonryung Association of North Korean Citizens in Japan and the Zainichi Koreans, a pro-Korean organization. Players arrived at this club from Tokyo Korea University.

After the abductions of Japanese citizens by agents of the DPRK , in 2002 the club changed its name to Korea and broke all ties with Cheonren. After that, the club began to present itself as a Pan-Korean team and began to attract players from South Korea .

In 2008, Korea entered the league a higher rank in the second league of the Kanto region, and in 2010 in the first league of the Kanto region. After that, the club decided to become a team that will participate in the J-League - in the highest level soccer league in Japan. However, this venture has not yet been implemented due to high competition not only in leagues of a higher rank, but also in the league of the Kanto region. This task is also complicated by the fact that non-citizens of Japan are forbidden to play in the lower and regional leagues of Japan, and as a result, the club cannot attract foreign players and is forced to play only with players of Japanese citizenship. The club is still involved in the Kanto regional league.

Participation in the international arena

Korea Football Club became famous thanks to the participation of its footballers for the United Korean Team Japan in a tournament organized by ConIFA . In 2015, the United Korean Football Association of Japan was organized. This organization was created to popularize and further develop football among the Koreans of Japan, as well as to create the United Team of the Koreans of Japan and its participation in the international arena. In November 2015, it was accepted into ConIFA , an international football organization that unites football teams and their associations (federations) of unrecognized and partially recognized states , autonomies within recognized countries , ethnic teams that were not included in FIFA and continental confederations. The team of the United Koreans of Japan for the first time participated in the ConIFA World Football Cup 2016 , which was held from May 28 to June 6, 2016 in Abkhazia . In this tournament, they played in group B with the teams of Iraqi Kurdistan and Sokei . After taking second place in the group (2 defeats in 2 matches), the Koreans reached the quarter finals, where they lost the Northern Cyprus team in the penalty shootout with a score of 4: 2 (the main and extra time ended with a score of 1: 1).
