Emma Tigranovna Sargsyan (born May 23, 1935, Voronezh) is an opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ), People's Artist of Russia (2001), professor of the Russian Academy of Theater Arts (GITIS) .

Biography
Born in Voronezh in the family of a musician.
In 1960 she graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky (class prof. A.L. Dolivo).
At the end of the conservatory, she was accepted into the opera company of the K.S. Stanislavsky and Vl.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, where she played leading roles such as Olga ("Eugene Onegin" by P. Tchaikovsky), Rozina ("Barber of Seville" by J. Rossini), Carmen ("Carmen" by J. Bizet).
In 1961 she became a laureate of the J. Enescu International Vocal Competition, winning the first prize).
Participation in the production of "Carmen", to which the famous German director Walter Felsenstein was invited, made her a star. Felsenstein continued his collaboration with Emma Sargsyan, and she repeated her success in this party on the stage of the Berlin Komishe operas.
Since 1991, since the founding of the New Opera, Emma Sargsyan began working in this theater. Here her repertoire included the following parts: Naina (“Ruslan and Lyudmila” M. Glinka) Nanny (“Demon” by A. Rubinstein) Nanny (“Eugene Onegin” by P. Tchaikovsky) Countess (“Queen of Spades” by P. Tchaikovsky, director Yuri Lyubimov) Ksenia’s mother (“Boris Godunov” by M. Waldgardt) She also takes part in the performance-divertissement "Rossini".
The singer toured extensively in Russia and abroad with solo concerts, in her concert programs - works by R. Schuman, M. de Falli, E. Granados, P. Tchaikovsky, S. Rachmaninov, as well as old Russian romances.
In 2007, she took part in the Salzburg Festival, performing the part of the Nanny (Eugene Onegin, conductor Daniel Barenboim). In 2008, she sang the part of Buryi ("Enufa" by L. Janacek) at the National Theater of Mannheim.
Emma Sargsyan took part in recordings on the radio operas Carmen and Eugene Onegin, as well as arias and romances. Two of her vinyl discs were released: with the recordings of the vocal cycle "Love and the Life of a Woman" by R. Schumann "The Spanish Songs" by M. de Falli.
