Lucus Asturum ( Latin: Lucus Asturum ) is a Roman city, which, presumably, was located in the place of the current town of Lugo de Llaner in the province of Asturias ( Spain ).
In ancient times, it was part of the Asturum convention of the province of Tarragona , and starting from the reign of the emperor Diocletian - the province of Gallecia . Lucus Asturum was at the crossroads of Roman roads in Asturias, which connected it with the neighboring province of Cantabria and Astorga . Before the arrival of the Romans, this area was inhabited by a tribe of .
In the VIII century, the city was occupied by Arabs . In the chronicle of the X century there is an indication that a stone fortress existed in the city, but archaeological data do not confirm this [1] .
