History
The group was founded by guitarist Maxim Kuznetsov with his school and university friends guitarist Mikhail Kiselev, bassist Alexander Proskunov and drummer Igor Irkov. At first, the group, not yet having a name, played cover songs of famous rock artists. Since 1982, their own songs have appeared, the music of which was written by the founder of the group, Maxim Kuznetsov, and the words by the bard Kirill Komarov . The group was called Domino. In 1984, Igor Irkov left the group, and his place was taken by Yuri Shcherbakov.
By the beginning of 1985, the group had a whole concert program. After submitting the application, the group was almost immediately accepted into the Rock Club . At the audition, Kuznetsov himself sang his songs, but he saw another person as a vocalist, and in the autumn of that year, Igor Semenov became him, having dismissed his Rock State by that time.
After joining the Rock Club, the name Domino was decided to change to something more relevant to the genre. The new title - “Presence” - contained a reference to the album Led Zeppelin Presence .
The new composition of the group debuted on the stage of the Rock Club on November 23, 1985, together with Elektrostandart and AuktsYon , after which the Presence began touring.
In April 1986, Proskunov replaces Alexander Krylov as bass player. After that, the group takes part in the IV Festival of the Leningrad Rock Club. The song "Autumn Blues" was recognized as the best along with the compositions of " Aquarium ", " Zoo " and " Cinema " [1] . However, not getting into the list of applicants for laureate, Semyonov became one of the leaders of the initiative group, who fought with the reaction in the Rock Club.
In the same 1986 “Presence” took part in the filming of the film “ Burglar ” by Valery Ogorodnikov.
In the spring of 1987, an album entitled “Cold Sky Season” was recorded at the studio of the Leningrad Youth Palace, but the musicians themselves considered its quality to be inappropriate and refused to distribute it.
At the 5th rock festival, Igor Semenov from the stage declares his retirement from the group and the revival of Rock State. In the same year, Kirill Komarov, who decided to start a musician’s career, leaves the group.
The group’s activities were resumed with the arrival of Evgeny Dyatlov , a former member of AuktsYon, in the summer of 1988. The Presence began to give concerts again, work was underway on the album, which also did not see the light of day.
September 22, 1989 "Presence" played at the festival of the magazine "Aurora", and this was the last performance of the group. Shcherbakov moved to Rock State, Kuznetsov went to TV . Mikhail Kiselev in 1990 emigrated to the United States, and later Maxim Kuznetsov also went there.
