Biography

Grew up in the small town of Krosniewice . His parents, Waldemar and Jolanta Petshak, worked as physical education teachers at a local school. Therefore, Michal made his first steps in sports under the guidance of his father. He started with a hurdle run, but won his first serious victory at a distance of 400 meters, where he won the Polish championship among juniors. He played at the 2008 Junior World Championships . In the 400 meters hurdles, he was eliminated in the semifinals, and in the relay he became 5th.

Coach Janusz Iskra from the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice , where Michal enrolled, saw his potential, after which their joint work began [1] .

In the 2009 season, he won the European Youth Championship . At the next championship of the continent for athletes under 23, the Poles (again with Petshak in the squad) became second.

Having taken 5th place in the national championship in 2012, he selected for the Olympic Games in London . In the capital of Great Britain, his participation was limited to preliminary races in the relay race, where the Poles took 9th overall place and did not make it to the finals (they only needed 0.24 seconds to qualify).

He played at the 2014 European Championship , where he was not one of the four strongest in the team. Having run his stage in the race, he was replaced in the final, and the Poles won silver. At the next championship of the continent , two years later, Michal likewise helped the team go to the decisive race, where his comrades took second place.

Won a bronze medal at the 2015 Summer Universiade in South Korea.

The second Olympic Games in his career were a little better for Petshak than the first. In the relay this time he managed to reach the final, where he, together with his teammates, took 7th place.

In 2016 he graduated from the Academy of Physical Culture in Katowice .
