Silvio Kroll ( German: Sylvio Kroll , born April 29, 1965 in Lübben ) is a German gymnast , two-time silver medalist of the 1988 Olympic Games [1] , two-time world champion.

Biography
Kroll began to do gymnastics at the age of six. Guido Janz, father of Olympic champion Karin Jantz , was his first coach in 1971-1974 at the TZ Lübben sports club. Since 1975, Silvio trained at the youth sports school in Cottbus , took part in the youth championships. At the 1979 championship, he became the winner in the all-around, floor exercises, on the bar and in vaulting. At the 1981 championship, he won the all-around, crossbar and vault. In 1982, he was the first at the GDR championship in gymnastics in horseback and vaulting exercises, in the same year he won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships. In 1983, he first participated in the World Cup, but could not enter the top three.
Due to the boycott of the Olympic Games of the GDR and other states, he could not take part in the 1984 Summer Olympics. In the Friendship 84 competition in the Czechoslovak city of Olomouc, he emphasized his good athletic form with gold in the vault and silver in the team championship. Later he took part in the world championships, European gymnastics, at the Olympic Games.
Since 1986, Silvio Kroll studied at the German College of Physical Culture and Sports (Deutschen Hochschule für Körperkultur und Sport, DHfK). After finishing speaking at competitions he worked at Cottbuser Sportamt, in 1997-2007 he was one of the organizers of the international gymnastics tournament “Tournament of Champions” (“Turnier der Meister”). In 2007-2008, he headed the Olympic Training Center in Stuttgart. Since 2009, he worked at the Frankfurt Olympic Training Center. Since 2003 - Member of the Executive Committee of the European Gymnastics Union (UEG).
Kroll is married, has two children. His hobbies are contemporary literature and music.
Sporting Achievements
He played in the GDR team, since 1991 - the German team. 1985 was the most successful year for Kroll. This year he became the champion of Europe in gymnastics in exercises on horseback. At the World Championships in Gymnastics in Montreal, he won two bronze medals - in the individual all-around and in the team championship. The following year, at the World Cup, he won the horizontal bar competition. At the European Championships in 1987, he won two silver medals - in vault and horizontal bar.
In preparation for the 1988 Olympics, he contracted pulmonary edema. Nevertheless, after the cure, he continued training and won two silver medals at the Olympic Games in Seoul, in the team championship and in the vaults. In the same disciplines, he won two silver medals at the World Championships in Stuttgart next year. In the DTB Cup, he won vaulting, was second on the crossbar and third on the rings.
In 1991, at the World Championships in Artistic Gymnastics in Indianapolis, Kroll as part of the German team with athletes Andreas Wecker , Ralph Buchner , Mario Franke, Andre Hempelon and Jan-Peter Nikiferov won the bronze medal in the team championship. At the German championship, he won the horse exercises, became the second in the vaulting and all-around.
At the 1992 Olympics, he was sixth in vaulting and fourth in team competition.
