Content
History
Formed in the city of Gorky in July 1942 on the basis of the NGO Directive No. 723499ss of 02.15.1942. It was formed in the period from July 15 to July 24, 1942 at the Gorky ABT Center in the vicinity of the village of Vysokoye, Sormovsky District, Gorky Region. Initially, the brigade included the 152nd, 474th tank, motorized rifle battalions and other units.
After the formation of the brigade was included in the army. As part of the Field Army from 07/27/1942 to 09/14/1942 and from 10/20/1942 to 11/27/1943 [1] .
From July 30, as part of the 30th, then 29th army of the Kalinin Front, participated in the Rzhev-Sychev offensive operation.
After fierce battles near Rzhev, it was withdrawn to the reserve of the Supreme Command.
From October 20 to November 1943, as part of the troops of the Kalinin Front, it conducted military operations to liberate the Kalinin, Smolensk regions and the eastern regions of Belarus.
In contrast to the battles during the breakthrough of the strongly fortified enemy defenses and the liberation of the city, Nevel was awarded the honorary name Nevelskaya (October 7, 1943) [2] . The order of the Supreme High Command says: "... To commemorate the victory achieved, the formations and units that distinguished themselves in the battles for the liberation of the city of Nevel should be given the name" Nevelskys. "Henceforth, these formations and units should be named: ... 236th Nevel Tank Brigade." [3]
On February 20, 1944, the tank brigade was reorganized into the 22nd self-propelled artillery brigade [4] .

Submission
After the formation, it was subordinated to the 30th Army of the Kalinin Front. Arrived at the front on July 27, 1942.
On August 28, 1942, it was reassigned to the 29th Army of the Kalinin Front. On September 6, 1942, it was withdrawn to the reserve of the Supreme High Command Headquarters for reformation to Art. Cuban Moscow Military District.
October 20, 1942 subordinated to the 43rd Army of the Kalinin Front. October 30, 1942 reassigned 4th oud. Army Kalinin Front.
December 21, 1942 subordinated to the 3rd ud. Army Kalinin Front. March 3, 1943 was placed at the disposal of the 4th oud. Army Kalinin Front. March 17, 1943 reassigned to the 43rd Army of the Kalinin Front. March 22, 1943 subordinated to the 4th shock army of the Kalinin Front.
September 12, 1943 entered into submission to the 39th Army of the Kalinin Front. September 20, 1943 was withdrawn to the reserve of the Kalinin Front. October 4, 1943 as part of the troops 4th oud. Army entered the subordination of the 1st Baltic Front. November 27, 1943 was withdrawn to the reserve of the 1st Baltic Front.
