Biography
His nickname is fr. Trancaléon or Tranche-Lion , which can be conditionally translated as Similar to Leo - Gero I received for his military prowess, but now it is not possible to establish what it manifested itself in. However, this name became a household name among the descendants of Gerot I, and their immediate family from the house of de Loman.
The name of the first wife of Gerot I is not known. The second time, in 1010 , when he was about 55 years old, he married Adalais of Aquitaine, daughter of the Duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitiers Guillaume V the Great and his second wife, Briska, heiress of the Duchy of Gascony .
Of his children, Bernard II Tumapaler , who inherited him, is precisely known.
As for other children, the information about them is very diverse:
- most often mentioned are Galdis, the Viscountess de Corney ( Fr. Corneilhas ), the wife of Ademar de Polesteron, but some researchers, in particular Z. Baqué , speak about the son of Gerot I from his first marriage, who received the Viscountry of Corneyan ( French Corneillan ) from his father.
- The famous father Anselm [2] , not mentioning the above, says:
- Brachet d'Armagnac, the wife of a certain seigneur de la Force (link to Oyenara )
- Adelais d'Armagnac, wife of Gaston III , Viscount Bearn , and then wife of Roger , Viscount Bruloy (link to de Marc ).
- Some researchers add to Galdis and Adelais
- Jeanne, wife of Robert de Peruss.
- Abbot Monlesen speaks of yet another son:
- Guillaume, who received the lord Fursé, who was succeeded by his son, Bernard, whose offspring is unknown. Nevertheless, the modern family of de Fursé de Saint-Mont ( fr. De Fourcès de Saint-Mont ), based on the work of the abbot of Montlesin and a number of documents [3] insists on his direct origin from Bernard de Fursé.
- Speaking of the two daughters of Gerot I, in addition to Adelais (Adelaide), he mentions
- Elmissandu, or according to other sources, Bilbijou, the wife of Don Ramiro I , King of Aragon .
