Biography
Grew up in North Dakota. She graduated from Purdue University (1992) and in 1994 as a chemical technologist defended her thesis at the University of Colorado . She worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Purdue University. In 1996, she received the post of assistant professor at the University of Colorado, in 2002 she became a professor, and in 2008 she became a professor emeritus. In 2003, she and her students became the first scientists to develop an injectable and biodegradable framework for cartilage regeneration [1] .
Anset was the first engineer to become one of the researchers at Howard Hughes Medical Institute (in 2000). Four years later, she received the highest award of the National Science Foundation - the Alan Waterman Award , which marks young scientists for outstanding achievements (the grant is $ 500,000) [2] . Member of the United States National Academy of Inventors (2015) and American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2019).
Has more than 17 patents. She founded Mosaic Biosciences for the implementation of her inventions [3] .
Awards and honors [4]
- Curtis McGaw Award of the American Society for Engineering Education (2003)
- Alan Waterman Award (2004)
- Bonfils-Stenson Society for Science and Medicine Prize (2015)
- Arthur Cope Prize of the American Chemical Community (2015)
- Honorary Doctor of Purdue University (2016)
The American Institute of Chemical Technologies named it one of the “100 modern chemists and technologists” [5] , and Popular Science magazine listed it among the top 10 scientists [6] [ when? ] .
