Biography
Born on July 10 ( July 23 ), 1909 in the village of Uni (now the district center in the Kirov region ). He studied at the Uninsky school (1918-1926).
He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Physics and Technology (Faculty of Physics and Mechanics of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute) (1934).
Work:
- 1934-1936 - engineer of LFTI ,
- 1936-1939 - engineer of the Ural Physical Technical Institute ( Sverdlovsk ),
- 1939-1945 - Researcher of the UFAN ,
- 1945-1963 - in the IAE named after I.V. Kurchatov , since 1948 the head of the sector. In 1957-1959, scientific secretary in the UN secretariat.
Member of the Soviet atomic project. He is the author of studies in the field of X-ray structural analysis, molecular physics, atmospheric radioactivity, and the creation of measuring equipment.
Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences (1953).
He died on April 28, 1963 . He was buried in Moscow at the Vvedensky cemetery (plot No. 27).
Awards and Prizes
- Stalin Prize of the third degree (1942) - for the invention of a new system of electrical measurements on direct currents of large magnitude
- Stalin Prize (1951) - for fulfilling special tasks of the government.
- Lenin Prize (1959) - for the work “Physical Foundations of the Early Detection of Nuclear Explosions”
