Patiria is a genus of starfish from the asterinid family of the Valvatida order. They live in the Pacific Ocean . They have a wide disc and very short rays. Rays are usually five, but occasionally individuals with four or even nine rays are found [1] . Patiria pectinifera is found in the waters of Russia ( Sea of Japan , waters off the southern Kuril Islands and Aniva Bay) [2] .
