Spin Forbidden Reactions

Spin-forbidden reactions are chemical reactions during which a change in the spin state of participating particles occurs. From the point of view of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics , such reactions are forbidden; nevertheless, their rate can be quite high. Spin-forbidden reactions can be either monomolecular or bimolecular. In the case of bimolecular reactions, the spin change is determined by comparing the total particle spin before and after the reaction.
