The Incredible Hulk gameplay is made in an isometric view. In the story, Dr. Bruce Banner tests the gamma bomb, but when it explodes, it is exposed to radioactive radiation, which makes it imprisoned and turns into the Hulk . The hero must get out of imprisonment and defeat the villain - Leader . The player will have to pass the levels, destroying obstacles and killing enemies to access the following areas of the zones.

The game was developed in parallel with another part of the series - Hulk , and, unlike it, takes as its basis the original comics, not the film . The Incredible Hulk received mixed gaming press ratings. Reviewers attributed the advantages of levels, but criticized the monotonous gameplay and inconvenient management.

Gameplay

The first level of the game. On the way of the Hulk are the enemies you need to attack.

The Incredible Hulk is a beat 'em up , made in an isometric view . In the story of the game, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Banner, a gamma bomb test was conducted. The enemy penetrates the study area, and Bruce and his partner decided to stop him, but because of the explosion, bombs are exposed to gamma radiation, which is why the military lead them to imprisonment. Bruce turns into a monster - the Hulk - and is about to run out of imprisonment. Behind this case is the villain Leader , who will defeat the Hulk [3] .

The game will control the Hulk. He can break various objects into levels, such as barrels, walls, tables and others, which helps to open the way to the next sections of the levels. Some objects can be taken and thrown. Also, the Hulk can attack enemies, who, in turn, can throw grenades, shoot weapons or control various devices, such as rocket launchers or tanks . If the Hulk is attacked or stumbles upon a dangerous object (for example, electricity), it will lose health, which, however, can regenerate if it is not subjected to attacks. At levels there are elements of puzzles, for example in some areas you need to find a way to turn off the electricity or open the way to the exit. On some levels, the Hulk will have to fight with the bosses , over which shows a strip of life. If this strip is completely empty, the boss will be defeated. In addition, there is a multiplayer mode for up to four players, for which you need to connect the Game Boy Advance consoles using a special cable. It presents the arenas in which several characters have to fight, and the one who survives wins [3] .

Development and release of the game

The development of the game The Incredible Hulk for the Game Boy Advance was responsible studio Pocket Studios. A new project was created with another Hulk game from Radical Entertainment - Hulk , to the release of the film of the same name . However, The Incredible Hulk , unlike the creation of Radical Entertainment, does not take the film as the basis of the plot, but is directly based on the original Hulk comics, and is made in the beat-em up genre. The announcement of the game was held on June 10, 2002 [1] . On February 27, 2003, a project trailer was released showing the main features of the gameplay [4] . According to the developers, players have to go through more than 30 different levels with their missions and puzzles, as well as a variety of destructible objects. A multiplayer mode for four players was also mentioned, but no details were given regarding it [5] .

The release of The Incredible Hulk took place on May 27, 2003 in the United States and on June 13 of the same year in Europe [2] .
