History

The first issue of the magazine was published in 1924 as an informational and methodological publication to help the leaders of the children's communist (pioneer) organization. The publication was carried out by the governing Komsomol bodies of Moscow and the USSR. The first editor of the magazine was Valerian Zorin, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bureau of Young Pioneers. The “counselor” spoke about the experience of the best squads, detachments, units and pioneer counselors for the communist education of children, covered the activities of the councils of the pioneer organization. To help pioneer counselors, the magazine systematically posted guidelines for organizing the work of squads, groups and units, printed practical materials on political education, local history work, labor and physical education of pioneers, the development of children's creativity and initiative, reviews of outgoing literature for children, counselors and a pioneer asset . In 1974, the counselor magazine was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. The award ceremony took place in the Concert Hall of the Moscow City Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren. In 1991, the magazine was published by the Central Council of the Union of Pioneer Organizations - the Federation of Children's Organizations (TSO SPO-FDO), the successor to the All-Union Pioneer Organization named after IN AND. Lenin and bore the name "Steps. Counselor. " [2]
