Biography
Born in аabac on January 14, 1839 . He studied in Belgrade , graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the Belgrade Lyceum (now - the University of Belgrade ). With the support of Josif Pancic, he received a grant for training in medicine and surgery in France. In November 1866 he defended his dissertation as a doctor of medicine in Paris.
In 1867 he worked as the chief physician of the community in Krusevac , in his spare time he was engaged in botanical gathering. Then Petrovich became a military doctor in Belgrade.
Since 1873, Petrovich was the personal physician of the prince and future king of Serbia, Milan Obrenovic , in his spare time he studied the flora of the surroundings of Niš .
Petrovich is the author of the first botanical monograph in Serbian. She was dedicated to the family of Ramond . He also first began to take an inventory of the medicinal flora of Serbia, in 1883 he published the first pharmacopeia.
In 1872, Sava Petrovich became one of the 15 founding members of the Serbian Medical Society.
He died on January 20, 1889 . He was buried in the New cemetery of Belgrade.
