Order of Merit of the Republic of Cyprus

The Order is intended to reward individuals with special merits who distinguished themselves in various fields of activity for the benefit of the Republic of Cyprus.

The order has six degrees:

• The big cross is a sign on a wide ribbon over the right shoulder and a star on the left side of the chest;
• The Great Commander is a badge on a ribbon worn around the neck and a star on the left side of the chest;
• Commander - a sign on a ribbon worn around the neck;
• Officer - a badge on a ribbon with a rosette worn on the left side of the chest;
• Cavalier is a ribbon mark worn on the left side of the chest.

The badge of the order is the national emblem of the republic : surrounded by a laurel wreath of green enamel, a gilded shield with a dove of white enamel flying to the left, holding an olive branch of green enamel in its beak; beneath the pigeon the numbers "1960" - the year of independence of the Republic of Cyprus. In the upper part of the wreath there is a spherical eye with a ring for attaching to the order ribbon.

The star of the order is eight-pointed, with the sign of the order superimposed on the center. The star of the Great Cross is gilded, the star of the great commander is silver.

The ribbon of the order is silk moire white with wide green stripes along the edges. A round rosette from the same tape is attached to the officer’s tape.
