Biography
Aristocrat . Born Marquis de Castelbel. Grand Spain . The representative of the high society of Spain.
The first years of his life spent in the clinic of Munich , pereborov severe congenital disease. In 1931, after the deposition of the monarchy, his family emigrated and settled in Biarritz ( France ). After the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, his father ordered his schoolboy son to go to war and fight on the side of General Franco .
In his younger years he was not alien to terror, participated in the executions of Republicans; later replaced the monarchist beliefs with ideas of socialism . In 1981 he joined the Spanish Socialist Workers Party , in 1994 he left its ranks.
As a journalist, he collaborated with a number of local publications, the EFE news agency, the magazines Paris Match , Marie Claire , Vogue and Playboy .
Author prose in Castilian and French . He is best known as the author of the book “The King”, one of the most famous biographies of the reigning Spanish monarch, King of Spain Juan Carlos I de Bourbon , published in 1993, and the autobiography Memorias no autorizadas in four volumes.
