Biography

For a long time I trained and played for my native Cuba . She was regularly among the winners of the championships of Central America and the Caribbean, the Ibero-American championships. In 2007, she became the bronze medalist of the Pan American 400 meters race and the champion in the 4x400 meters relay (the USA and Jamaican teams remained behind) [1] . She participated in two world championships ( 2007 , 2009 ) and the Olympic Games in Beijing . In all cases, she reached the semifinals in the individual run and ran in the relay final. In the Cuban period of her career, she showed the best results, including a personal record of 50.98 (2008).

Going to the 2010 Iberoamerican Championship in the Spanish city of San Fernando , Indira decided not to return back to Cuba. After the competition, she, along with three other team members, moved to Castellon de la Plana , where she planned to start a new life.

At first, she had to think more about survival, not about sports. After some time, she became a member of the athletics club in Valencia , and gradually began to return to previous results [2] . Indira limited herself to playing for the club at commercial starts, as she did not have a Spanish passport. In April 2014, she finally received citizenship, and then the right to represent her new country at international starts. And in the summer she managed to become the bronze medalist of the European Championship , ahead of the finish line of the British Olympic champion Kristin Ohuruogu [3] (the gap was only 0.002 seconds).

In the winter of 2015, she became the second at the European Indoor Championships , losing only to the Ukrainian Natalya Pigide .
