Biography
He trains in Brest under the leadership of Lyudmila Vladimirovna Kunats.
I ended up in sports thanks to my younger sister, whom she took after athletics. Once, the coaches offered her a try and invited her to train. The first experience was successful, and Julia continued to improve her sportsmanship [1] .
Success was not long in coming. Leontyuk turned out to be a talented athlete, and already at the age of 17 she made her international debut. At the Youth World Championships in 2001, she won a bronze medal in the shot put. Next came other successes, including a victory at the European Youth Olympic Festival, the podium of the European Junior Championships , and finals of all major tournaments in various age categories. Since 2006, she began to be involved in the main team (which was very difficult, since there were several top-level athletes in Belarus in her discipline).
In 2007, she became the second at the Summer Universiade in Bangkok with an attempt at 17.20 m. In the next Olympic season, Leontuk made impressive progress in the results. She improved her personal record by almost a meter, pushing the core at the end of May in Brest by 19.79 meters. However, in July, the IAAF announced a positive doping test of the athlete. In her body, the level of testosterone was significantly exceeded. The International Federation disqualified Julia for 2 years [2] .
However, a pause in his career dragged on for 5 years. The return took place only in 2013. Having regained her athletic form, Julia began to show stable results, which were enough to fight for the medals of the European Championships (4th place in 2014 ) and to be a finalist of the World Championships (7th at the winter championship in 2014 and the summer in 2015 ) In the winter of 2015 she set a personal record for premises (19.00 m) and arrived as the leader of the European season for the continent's winter championship . Until the last attempt, she walked in first place with a throw of 18.60 m, but Hungarian Anita Marton was able to snatch victory, setting a national record of 19.20 m.
In 2016, Julia for the second time in a row stopped a step away from the medal at the European Championships . She participated in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she could not reach the final.
