Biography
Taikara Hanim is the daughter of the Kazakh Khan Nurala , one of the sons of Abulkhair Khan and Bopay Hanim. Taykara Hanim gained so much authority among officials that she was called Princess Taikara in all official papers. Under this title, she went down in history. Taikara was born from the daughter of Murza Khoja, who in the early 50s was married by her father to her son Abulkhair Khan from the Volga Kalmyk Bayan Khanim, Sultan Chingiz, and after his death was inherited according to the tradition of the Levirate Khan the Younger Zhuz Nurala. Taykara Khanim differed as contemporaries describe, the beauty that led all officials of the Orenburg region in amazement. An extraordinary appearance was combined with intelligence, charm, the ability to wear both European and Eastern clothes. Due to the fact that her husband Nurmuhammed Khoja was part of the border court, Taikara Khanym often visited St. Petersburg , where she acquired the gloss of Russian secular ladies, although she dressed there emphasized in oriental style.
Kazakh Mata Hari
Taikara Hanım's marriage was unhappy. The husband was a windy, woman-addicted man. Naturally, for Taikara Hanym, her husband’s behavior was extremely offensive, but this to some extent shaped her character. In the Orenburg region, the aged handsome Otto Heinrich von Igelstrom appeared as governor. The first meeting with Taykara Hanym made an indelible impression on him. Taykara Hanym became his last, deepest passion. Baron Igelstrom did crazy things in order to achieve love, or maybe not love, but just the attention of Taikara Hanim. Taykara became the favorite of Igelstrom, which gave her then reason to fulfill the role of the Kazakh Mata Hari . The descendants of Abulkhair Khan , outraged by the fact that the institution of khan power in the Younger Zhuz was liquidated, condemned Taykar Hanim to influence Baron Igelstrom so that their power was restored and Taikara Hanim succeeded. The royal officials, being deeply wounded by this, wrote about Igelstrom as “An idiot, an old celadon who lost his head from a Kazakh beauty.” Mikhail Terentyev in the book “The History of the Conquest of Central Asia”, in the first volume curses Igelstrom for the fact that the baron distraught with passion abandoned all his former reform.Nastolko strong influence on him had Taykary Hanim. Taikaru Hanim mentioned F.I. Lobisevich in his notes, noting her great influence on the military governor Baron Igelstrom: “... Igelstrom was captured by Taikara Hanim, the daughter of Khan Nurali, a smart and beautiful woman. Taykara Hanim was married to Kazakh college assessor Nurmukhamet Khojo. (held the position of assessor for the Sultan in the border court), she lived permanently in Orenburg, visited the capital, learned secularism, but always wore a national costume. Igelstrom procured her the title of princess . "
