Biography

Carlos Morete is a graduate of River Plate Academy. In the main part of the "millionaires" debuted in 1970. While still a player in the third Rivera team, Moret stood out against his opponents and partners, and for his speed qualities, the journalist Ricardo Aldao gave the attacker the nickname Puma, by which Moret was known to the football community until the very end of his career [1] . For the first time in his career, Moret became Argentina's top scorer in 1972 - in 15 matches he scored 14 goals in 15 matches. Two years later, he became Metropolitan 's top scorer, having distinguished himself 18 times in 18 games. The following year, Morete helped Rivera to become Argentina's champion twice - the team was subdued by both the Metropolitan and Nacional championships - Morete scored 31 times in 50 matches of the season, although Horacio Scott won the top scorer both times. After that, Puma signed a contract with the Spanish Las Palmas.

Moret's Spanish career period lasted six years. The Argentinian continued to score a large number of goals - in 147 matches for the “islanders” in La Liga, he scored 80 times (in all tournaments he has 99 goals [2] ), and the most successful for Puma was the 1976/77 season, when he scored 22 goals in the championship of Spain. In the UEFA Cup 1977/78, Moret scored six goals in four games. Last season in Spain, the Argentine spent in the "Seville", after which he returned to Argentina.

Moret joined the camp of the worst enemy of the native “Rivera” - “Boke Juniors”, but could not gain a foothold in the Genoese due to poor physical shape, although he became the champion of Argentina for the third time. Moving to a modest “Taljeres” from Cordoba helped the attacker to catch the feeling of a goal again - for half the season he scored 20 goals in the Argentinean championship in 20 matches, after which he received an invitation from another Grand - Independiente. Until the end of 1982, he scored another 20 goals, setting a personal record for the calendar year (40 goals) [1] .

With the “Kings of Cups”, Morete spent another full season, that is, two championships (champion Metropolitan, as well as Nacional 1983), after which he moved to Argentinos Juniors, which became the last club in the attacker's career. In the mid -1980s, the “Red Bugs” became the leaders of Argentinean football. Together with this team, Moret became the champion of Argentina twice more and in 1985 won the Libertadores Cup. At the end of the 1985/86 season, the striker ended his career.

February 6, 1973 Morete made his debut in the national team of Argentina, led by Omar Sivori ; the coach called him to two games [1] . After a long break in 1983, Carlos Bilardo again summoned the attacker to the Albiseleste camp. In total, Carlos Morete played in four matches for Argentina and scored with one goal scored.

Carlos has a son Omar, born in Spain [2] .
