BeamNG.drive is a computer game in the genre of car simulator , which is developed and published by BeamNG for the Windows platform. Uses the unique physics of soft bodies. It is an ideological continuation of the previous project of developers - Rigs of Rods [8] .

Gameplay
BeamNG.drive currently does not have any goals in the game, although after early access to Steam (0.4.0.0) scenarios were added in which the player had to pass through control points. And from version 0.9.0.5, a campaign (plot) called “A Rocky Start” was added to the game. The player can control and break down many cars on several standard maps. The game implements soft-body physics to control the dynamics of a car, as well as to control collisions of objects and vehicles [8] , which is realistic, accurate, destructible and “malleable” [9] [10] [11] .
Physics
BeamNG.drive is based on real-time structural physics of soft bodies for simulating vehicles, which in the game consist of a soft body, a beam structure unit, similar to the vehicle structure in Rigs of Rods . The physics engine simulates a network of interconnected nodes and beams that form an invisible car frame with realistic weight and mass. From the point of view of soft-body physics, vehicles really bend and do not deform like a skeleton, such as applying the effects of a collision. The engine constantly calculates physical equations and tasks in real time right during the game [12] .
Development
At the end of May 2012, BeamNG released a video on its YouTube channel called Revolutionary Soft Body Physics in CryEngine3 [1] . Initially, BeamNG.drive used the CryEngine3 rendered game engine, but due to the abundance of bugs, the game was transferred to the Torque 3D engine [6] . To develop BeamNG.drive, developers use the Lua programming language and data packets through the Lua system network, while the game works to complete the complex equations of physics during the game.
BeamNG created its website beamng.com in May 2012 to post news about the development of the simulator there. [13] The site has a public forum, developer blog, wiki.
The game was posted on an open vote on Steam Greenlight on February 12, 2014 [14] . After 8 days, the game received a green light. The news about this was published on the developers website. [15]
From September 2014 to February 2015, BeamNG.drive developers added public experimental versions of the game in which the latest BeamNG.drive achievements were collected. The Steam Early Access Update was officially added to Steam in Early Access Mode on May 29, 2015. [sixteen]
Criticism Reviews
BeamNG.drive has been praised by critics. In a BBC Autos article, the author wrote: “ BeamNG is interested in cinema for modeling stunts on vehicles, since they can be thoroughly tested, but cheaply before the stunt man crashes the car in which he is sitting.” [17]
