Mirek Topolanek ( Czech Mirek Topolánek ; born May 15, 1956 , Vsetin ) - Czech Prime Minister from August 2006 to March 24, 2009 . From 2002 to 2010 - Chairman of the center-right Civil Democratic Party (member of the State Duma since 1994 ), succeeded Vaclav Klaus .

In 1996-2004 , he was a senator from Ostrava; in 2002-2004 , he was the deputy chairman of the Senate. [1] In 2006, he was elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies and, under the conditions when left and right parties received 100 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, formed the one-party government of his party and independent ministers, replacing Jiri Paroubek as Prime Minister. His cabinet failed to gain approval in the House, and Topolanek headed the interim transitional government until January 2007 , when Topolanek was able to get approval for the new government with the participation of the Green Party and the Christian and Democratic Union - the Czech People's Party .
On March 24, 2009, the Lower House of the Czech Parliament passed a vote of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek [2] . M. Topolanek said that he would leave his post following the decision of the deputies. In accordance with the Czech constitution, on March 26, 2009, Topolanek submitted an official resignation letter to President Vaclav Klaus [3] .
In early June 2009, Topolanek was forced to defend his reputation in connection with indecent photographs published in print. Photos of a naked man, similar to Topolanek, were taken at the residence of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi [4] .
