Peter Wiersum ( Dutch: Peter Wiersum , born November 1, 1984) is a Dutch athlete, rower, medalist of the European and World Rowing Championships, as well as the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Biography
Peter Wirsum was born on November 01, 1984 in Sutton Coldfield , West Midland , UK. He began his professional career as a rower since 2005. Trains and represents the club - Proteus-Eretes DSRV, Delft . The first international level competition Wirsum participated in was the III stage of the 2006 rowing world cup in Lucerne (2006 WORLD ROWING CUP III). As part of the eight with a score of 05: 59.540, his team took 5th place, losing to the rivals from the Netherlands (second team (05: 51.880 - 4th place)) and Poland (05: 48.890 - 3rd place). In this swim, he acted as the helmsman [1] .
Wirsum won his first champion gold at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich . With a score of 05: 42.060 in the eights swim, the Dutch rowers took first place, ahead of rivals from Germany (05: 44.520 - 2nd place) and Italy (05: 46.330 - 3rd place) [2] .
Bronze in Wirsum’s asset was earned at the Sevilla European Championships 2013 in Seville as part of the eight. His team came to the finish of thirds, losing to rivals from Poland and Germany [3] .
At the 2015 rowing world championships , held in the French city of Egbelet-le-Lac, Virsum took third place in the Dutch eight. [four]
During the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, the Virsum performance as part of the eight brought a bronze medal. Dutch rowers with a score of 05: 31.590 lost the lead to teams from Germany (05: 30.960 - 2nd place) and the UK (05: 29.630 - 1st place) [5] .
