Michael Kenneth Green ( born August 6, 1951, McComb , Mississippi , USA ) is an American basketball player who played for the Denver Nuggets , Virginia Squires , and Seattle Supersonics at the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. San Antonio Spurs and Kansas City Kings . He played in the center position.

Biography

In 1969-1973, Green played for the basketball team of Louisiana University of Technology , in 1973 he was recognized as the basketball player of the Southland Conference of the Year . Green set team records for the number of points scored and rebounds - 2340 and 1575, respectively. In 1996, Green was admitted to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

In the 1973 NBA draft, Green was selected under number four by the Seattle Supersonics club. However, he preferred to start a professional career at the American Basketball Association . For two years, Green played in the ABA for the Denver Rockets team (in 1974, changed its name to Denver Nuggets). In the 1973/1974 season, he was included in the first symbolic ABA rookie team . In 1975, Green took part in the ABA All-Star Game. In 1975, he moved to another ABA club, Virginia Squires , for which he played for one year.

Following the merger of the ABA and NBA in 1976, Green, as a free agent, signed a contract with Seattle Supersonics. In the NBA, his career was much worse. On November 12, 1977, Green was traded at the San Antonio Spurs for two choices in the second round of 1978 and 1979 draft picks. After two partial seasons in San Antonio on September 13, 1979, Green was traded to the Kansas City Kings . He spent the season for this team, becoming his last in the NBA.
