Biography
Parents sent Ray Higuchi to the Sweet wrestling club at the age of four.
After graduation, he entered the Nippon Sport Science University , where he is studying as of 2016.
In 2012, he won the title of Asian champion among the cadets. In 2013, the eighth cadet world championship. In 2015, he was third at the Open Cup of the President of Buryatia and at the Mongolia Open tournament ; at the junior world championship was only 21st. In the same year he was not allowed to participate in the Japanese championship due to exceeding the weight limits in his weight category, so he earned a ticket to the Olympic Games at international tournaments in 2016. And there he performed excellently, winning three consecutive tournaments: qualifying in Astana, the memorial to Vaclav Tsiolkovsky, and the Pearl of Macedonia tournament.
Before the Olympic Games was the tenth number in the world ranking, as a favorite was not considered.
He played at the 2016 Olympic Games in the category of up to 57 kilograms, where on the way to the final he was able to confidently defeat such titled wrestlers as the bronze medalist of the 2015 world championship Jovlis Bonnet and the world champion in 2013, silver medalist of the 2015 world championship Hassan Rahimi . In the final, in a stubborn meeting with a clear favorite of the weight category, Vladimir Khinchegashvili was defeated and won the silver medal of the Olympic Games [1] .
