Elizaveta Georgievna Kotorova (born August 21, 1954 , Tomsk ) is a doctor of philological sciences , professor , specialist in the field of lexical semantics , lexicology , lexicography , pragmalinguistics and the Ket language .

Biography

In 1976 she graduated with honors from the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of Tomsk State Pedagogical Institute . In her student years she participated in field expeditions to study the Ket language .

After graduation, she studied at the graduate school of the philological faculty of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosova , Ph.D. thesis "Metaphorics in the Dictionary and in the Text" was defended in 1983 (supervisor Prof. N. G. Komlev ).

In 1998 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic “The Problem of Interlanguage Equivalence in Lexical Semantics” at Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov.

In 2000, she received the academic title of professor in the department of German language and general linguistics .

Since 1976, she taught at the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of Tomsk State Pedagogical University , as well as at Tomsk Polytechnic University and Tomsk State University .

She worked and trained at various universities and research centers in Europe ( Free University , Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany), Udine University (Udine, Italy), Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology (Leipzig, Germany) and the USA ( University of California, Santa Barbara) , Columbia University ).

In different years she was a scholarship holder to them. Alexander Humboldt , foundation of the German Academic Exchange Service , Soros Foundation , etc.

Since 2005 is the head. Chair of Lexicology and Pragmalinguistics of the Institute of Germanic Philology of Zelenogur University (Zielona Gora, Poland).

Family: husband - Kotorov S.G. (Born in 1950) - engineer, entrepreneur; daughter - Kotorova E.S. (Born in 1980) - a doctor.

Scientific activity

Author of over 100 scientific articles and monographs. Among the main areas of scientific activity are the following:

  • Studying the problem of interlanguage equivalence in contrasting and translational aspects (based on German and Slavic languages )
  • Lexical-semantic systems of German , English , Russian languages in comparison
  • Pragmalinguistic features of the construction of speech acts (based on the material of Germanic and Slavic languages)

E.G. Kotorova proposed a new approach to determining interlanguage equivalence, according to which when comparing systems of two languages, equivalence is established not between separate tokens , but between the token of the original language and the corresponding lexical field of another language [1] [2] .

At present, he is developing an original theory of the “Communicative-Pragmatic Field” to describe the possibilities of implementing various models of speech behavior in a particular language [3] [4] .

Since 2000, actively engaged in the study and description of the Ket language ; participated in linguistic expeditions to the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory .

  • The project to create the "Great German-Russian Dictionary" under the general supervision of prof. D. O. Dobrovolsky (Moscow, Russia) - editor and compiler (1999-2005)
  • Project “Contrastive Grammar of German and Russian Languages” (Berlin, Germany) - participant (1999-2000)
  • Project for the creation of the “Great Ket Dictionary” (Leipzig, Germany) - leader, editor and compiler (2000-2007, 2012-2015)
  • Project “Linguistic picture of the world in Slavic and Germanic languages: typological specificity” (Berlin, Germany) - participant (2002-2003)
  • Project “Typology of means for expressing spatio-temporal relations of the Ob-Yenisei language area” (Tomsk, Russia) - leader (2007-2008)
  • Project “Creation of a computer database on the languages ​​of the Ob-Yenisei language area” (Tomsk, Russia) - participant (2007-2008)

Under the leadership of E.G. Kotorova defended more than 10 master's theses. Lecture courses taught at different times include General Linguistics , Methods of Linguistic Research, German Language Lexicology, German Phonetics and Phonology , Contrastive Linguistics (based on German and Russian languages), Translation Theory , " Pragmatics and communication theory", "Theory of speech acts", etc.
