Biography
In 2012, a disciplinary case was opened against Chaus, but he was able to remain in his post [3] . The judge repeatedly raised suspicion of breaking the law, but always got out of the situation [4] .
In the winter of 2014, Chaus sentenced in falsified cases against activists of avtomaydan [3] .

On the same day, Chaus deprived the right to drive at least one other driver who wanted to visit Yanukovych. An interesting fact is that when considering other cases under Art. 122-2, which did not concern the Maidan, the judge never deprived the drivers of their rights. And then he showed such integrity and applied maximum sanction to two citizens without proper evidence. For me this is obvious - Chaus, like more than 120 other judges, complied with the instructions to prosecute the participants of Avtomaydan and made a deliberately unjust decision, which is a serious crime [6]
In 2015, the Temporary Special Commission examined the actions of Chaus about the deprivation of rights and decided that he violated the oath and should be dismissed. But he was not dismissed [6] .
On August 9, 2016, he was detained while receiving a bribe of $ 150,000 [7] . The bribe was for making the “right decision” in the criminal proceedings for drug trafficking [8] . Nikolai Chaus suspected that he was engaged in NABU, and demanded to raise a bribe from $ 100,000 to $ 150,000, said the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Artem Sytnik [9] . The judge buried the money received in his garden in liter jars [10] . Despite the fact that the judge was caught in a bribe, they could not arrest him because the Verkhovna Rada did not give permission for this [11] . A request for consent to the detention of Chaus was sent to the Verkhovna Rada [12] . The day after the conviction of a large currency bribe, the judge did not come to work [13] . According to the Ukrainian oligarch Alexander Onishchenko, Judge Chaus fled to Moldova with the complicity of people from the inner circle of Petro Poroshenko [16] . On August 11, 2016, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine searched Chaus [18] . Chaus's lawyer refuses to communicate with the press [19] and refused to give his name. The Chaus has not yet been declared wanted.
On November 14, 2016, the press service of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine announced that on November 11, Interpol put on the international wanted list a judge of the Dniprovsky District Court of Kiev Nikolay Chaus [20] . After illegally crossed the border to Moldova and surrendered to the authorities. Ukraine demanded extradition and while the case was pending, Chaus was found dead in an apartment with multiple stab wounds ....
But it turned out that this was not true, Chaus is alive, under house arrest and awaiting extradition to Ukraine [21] .
