Biography

Oldrich Lomecki was born on September 5, 1920 in Prague .

He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in the 1950 season, when he joined the main team of the Czechoslovak national team and attended the World Championships in Copenhagen, from where he brought the bronze dignity award, won together with teammate Bohuslav Karlik in the classification of double canoes at a distance of 10,000 meters - only compatriots Jan Brzak-Felix and Bogumil Kudrna ahead of him at the finish, as well as the French crew of Georges Dransar and Arman Loro .

Thanks to a series of successful performances, Lometsky won the right to defend the honor of the country at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki - he started here with the same Bohuslav Karlik in twos at ten kilometers. They were considered as the main favorites of the competition, but in the end they finished only sixth, losing to the victorious French crew Georges Turlier and Jean Lodet for more than a minute. Soon after the end of these competitions, Oldrich Lomecki decided to end his sports career, giving way to young Czechoslovak rowers in the national team.

He died on April 17, 2011 in Prague at the age of 90.
