Theodor Kirchner ( German: Theodor Fürchtegott Kirchner ; December 10, 1823 , Neukirchen - September 18, 1903 , Hamburg ) - German composer and organist .

He studied in Leipzig with Karl Ferdinand Becker and Julius Knorr . In 1843 , on the recommendation of Mendelssohn, he got a place as an organist in Swiss Winterthur - a lot, however, touring Germany .
In 1862 - 1870 he worked in Zurich , in 1873 - 1876 he headed the conservatory in Würzburg , then he lived in Leipzig and Hamburg.
Known mainly as a composer of romances, quartets for stringed instruments and pieces for piano (over 1000, mostly miniatures similar in style to the music of R. Schumann ), works for organ.
