Description

The area of the Presny water basin is 12 km², length - 4.5 km [2] .

The source of Presnya was located in the Gorely bog, not far from the Civic platform of the Riga direction of the Moscow railway . The river flowed in Petrovsky Park , crossed the Byelorussian direction of the Moscow Railway , went along Novopresnensky Lane , along Malaya Gruzinskaya Street [3] and passed between Druzhinnikovskaya and Konyushkovskaya streets. It flows into the Moscow River at the Novoarbatsky Bridge , not far from Smolenskaya Embankment . In 1908, Presnya was enclosed in an underground collector, the river valley was filled up. In the upper reaches of the bulk soil is 2 meters, in the lower reaches up to 6 meters. In the years 1930-1940, the source of the river was filled up with the dumps of Metrostroy [4] . Of the Presnensky ponds , only two ponds are preserved in the zoo .

Tverskaya-Yamskaya Sloboda , Georgian Sloboda , the village of Kudrino and the village of Voskresenskoye were located on the banks of Presnya [1] .

The tributaries of Presnya were the Kabanka , Kabaniha and Bubna rivers, in Soviet times [1] also enclosed in an underground reservoir [2] .

Etymology

The Slovak word “fresh” means “pure”, the Bulgarian “fresh” means “fresh”. Proceeding from this, Presnya is “a river with pure water”. Earlier, in its basin was the source of the Studonets, whose water was considered the cleanest in Moscow [5] .

The second name of the river - Sinichka - is associated with the blue color of the water [6] . This name may have been transferred from the left tributary Presnya - Bubny, also known as Sinichka [2] .
