Biography
Born February 15, 1771 in the castle of Egloffstein. He was the son of Baron Karl von Eglovstein ( him. Karl von Egloffstein , 1736-1773) and Sophia von Thun ( him. Sophie von Thüna , 1742-1807).
After the early death of his father, he was brought up in Berlin by his maternal uncle - Prussian general (1722-1787). Then he continued his military studies and in 1784 began serving as a cadet in the regiment of his uncle, and after his death he served as a lieutenant in the regiment of Lichnowski . In 1793-1794 he took part in the Polish campaign .
The duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach drew attention to the young officer and suggested that he resign from military service. But Augustus-Karl remained to serve and on February 18, 1795 became the chief lieutenant , and on December 18, 1796 - the captain . In 1807 he was promoted to colonel, and then to the foreman .
In 1808, in Weimar , he married Isabelle Waldner von Freundstein (1785–1869), the daughter of Baron Gottfried Waldner von Freundstein (1757–1818). They had two sons and two daughters. In Weimar, August-Karl von Eglovstein became a member of the Masonic Lodge Anna Amalia zu den drei Rosen . [2]
He participated in the Liberation War in Germany on the side of the French, took part in many battles, rising to the rank of major general . Eglovstein was the commander of the Rhineland . In 1815 he became the commandant of Charleville-Mezieres .
He died on September 15, 1834 while in the town of Bad Kissingen.

- He was awarded many awards, including the Russian Order of St. George , 4th degree (No. 2968; August 20, 1814).
