
Nikolai Šilins ( Latvian: Nikolajs Šiliņš ; September 14, 1879 , Cape , now Ogre Territory - May 25, 1939 , Riga ) - Latvian journalist and translator.
He graduated from high school in Madeleine and the Gatchina Teachers' Seminary (1900). In 1900-1906 taught at the Madlien school, but in connection with his participation in the revolutionary events of 1905-1906. He was dismissed without the right to further pedagogical work. He was a member of the editorial board of the newspaper Dzimtenes Vēstnesis (1908-1917), in 1917-1919. together with Juris Kalnins and Jānis Akmens, attempted to revive the Baltijas Vēstnesis newspaper. In 1919-1935 employee of the newspaper Jaunākās Ziņas , in 1924 its editor.
He published Latvian translations of Russian prose and journalism, including the works of Anton Chekhov , Leonid Andreev and others.
