Bosek, Ryszard

Ryszard Bosek ( Polish: Ryszard Bosek ; born April 12, 1950) - former Polish volleyball player, player of the Polish men's national volleyball team in 1969-1986, participant in the Olympic Games ( 1972 , 1976 , 1980 ), Olympic champion in 1976 , world champion 1974 , silver medalist at the European Championship ( 1975 , 1977 , 1979 ).

Personal life

Bosek was born in Kamenna Gora , Poland . In 2008, he was diagnosed with cancer . [1] His salivary glands and nerves of the shoulder were removed, after which his health was restored. He is currently an expert in volleyball on the Polsat Sport channel and works as a manager for several volleyball players ( Bartosh Kurek , Petr Novakovsky, Jakub Jarosz).

Career

Polish national team

Bosek took part in the World Championships three times: in 1970 (5th place), 1974 and 1978 (8th place). In 1974, the players of the Polish team , including Bosek, were recognized as world volleyball champions . This was the first achievement of a kind in the history of Polish volleyball.

Among his other achievements, three silver medals of the European Championship ( 1975 , 1977 , 1979 ) should be noted. All three times the Polish team lost to the USSR team.

He participated in the Olympic Games three times: in Munich in 1972, Montreal in 1976 and Moscow in 1980. In 1976, as one of the main players in the Polish team , whose captain was Hubert Jerzy Wagner, he won the title of Olympic champion. The final match was against the USSR and took place on July 30, 1976 in Mexico .
