Louis-Alexander de Bourbon, Count of Toulouse ( French: Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, comte de Toulouse ; June 6, 1678 , Versailles - December 1, 1737 , Rambouillet castle). The third illegitimate son of King Louis XIV of France and the Marquise de Montespan , his official favorite from 1668 to 1680.

He bore the titles of Count of Toulouse (since 1681), Duke of Pentyev (since 1697) and Duke of Rambouillet (since 1711).

At the age of 5, the boy received the rank of admiral of France . In 1693, under his leadership, the Admiralty of France and the previously independent Admiralty of Brittany were united. In 1696 he was awarded the title of Marshal of France and subsequently became one of the commanders of the royal army. He took a very active part in the War of the Spanish Succession . In 1704, he commanded the French fleet at the battle of Malaga . In 1706 he participated in the Second Siege of Barcelona .

After the death of Louis XIV in the period of Polysynody, he was the head of the French naval department - the Council of the Navy ( Conseil de la Marine ).

In 1723, the Count of Toulouse married Maria Victoria Sophia de Noai (1688-1766), who bore him the only son of Louis Jean-Marie de Bourbon (1725-1793), the Duke de Pentevre, de Rambouillet, d'Omal and others.

The Count of Toulouse also had two illegitimate sons: Louis Alexandre de Saint-Foy ( fr. De Sainte-Foy ; 1720 - died young) and Philippe Auguste de Saint-Foy (1721-1795; better known as “Chevalier d'Arc”, Fr. le Chevalier d'Arcq ). The mother of both was Madeleine Aumont ( French Madeleine Aumont ).

The count died in 1737 in his estate Rambouillet .

Facts

At the Count’s court, the composer and violinist viroz Giovanni Antonio Piani worked. He dedicated Louis to Alexander de Bourbon. 1 of his compositions from 12 Sonatas for violin and basso continuo.
