Erich was born in Eisenach in the family of a lawyer and notary. After his mother’s death, he studied at the Latin school of his hometown and, at the age of fifteen, went to Jena to start a painting course, which he continued at the universities of Nuremberg and Augsburg. [one]
A native of Livonia , studied at the medical university.
After attending a medical course in Berlin and Göttingen , he received a doctorate in medicine in Derpt in 1820 for Dissertatio inauguralis med. meletemata quaedam de inflammatione ”(Derpt, 1820 ).
After which he was seconded to an expedition to the polar countries under the command of Baron F.P. Wrangel , from which he returned in 1824 . From August 1825 to September 1827, Cyber again accompanied Wrangel on his trip around the world.
Subsequently, he served in St. Petersburg , in Kronstadt , and since 1854 - in Nikolaev and was the General Staff Headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet , a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences (since 1827) [2] .
Cyber published an article about the Chukchi in the Siberian Herald ( 1824 , part 2), and a number of articles in Medic. Zeitung Russlands ”, at“ Ostsee-Prov. Blatt ”( 1823 - 1824 ) and participated in the compilation of the description of the polar journey of Wrangel.
In honor of the polar explorer, a cape was named on the northeast coast of Chukotka .
