The second OPL split of 2016 was attended by top 6 teams from the spring split - “ Legacy eSports ”, “ Sin Gaming ”, “ Dire Wolves ”, “ Avant Garde ”, “ Hellions e-Sports Club ” and “ The Chiefs eSports Club ”, who defended the championship title [1] . According to the results of the butt matches between the representatives of OCS and OPL , held from April 24 to 26, 2016, two more participants of the second split of the Oceania regional league for the League of Legends of the 6th season were determined: they were “ Abyss Esports ” and “ Tainted Minds ” [2 ] [3] .

The regular season of the second OPL split took place from May 23 [4] to July 26, 2016 in the format of up to two wins ("The Best of Three"). The teams were divided according to the results of the previous split into two groups - A and B, inside each of the groups the team played with each other 2 times (double circular system). Then all the teams from Group A played with all the teams from Group B in one round up to two wins, the results of all series of the regular season affect the overall position of the teams in a single standings.
According to the results of the regular season, three playoff participants became known - “ Legacy eSports ”, “ Dire Wolves ” and “ The Chiefs eSports Club ”. July 27, 2016 between the teams “ Tainted Minds ”, “ Avant Garde ” and “ Abyss Esports ” took place tie-breaks to determine the last participant in the playoffs. Having won all two tie-breaks , Avant Garde continued the fight for the slot at IWCQ 2016 [5] [6] .
From August 1 to August 13, 2016, playoff matches were held. In the semi-finals, the teams “ Legacy eSports ” - “ Avant Garde ” and “ Dire Wolves ” - “ The Chiefs eSports Club ” played among themselves [7] . According to their results, “ Legacy eSports ” and “ The Chiefs eSports Club ” went to Brisbane's Koriere Mail Piese to perform in the last round of the playoffs [8] [9] , winning their semifinal series with a score of 3: 0. Thanks to the victory over “ Legacy eSports ” with a score of 3-0 in the grand final, “ The Chiefs eSports Club ” became Oceania representatives in the qualifying stage of the League of Legends World Championship season 6 [10] .
The most valuable player in the split was Tim “Carbon” Wendal, the Forester of the Legacy eSports team [11] [12] .
The league sponsors were Red Bull GmbH , Logitech and HOYTS . [13]
